The collaborative Sentry Aerospace-Sukhoi-Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (now part of EADS) IFX-35A Cygnus is a single seater, Multi-Engined, supermaneuverable, Multi-Role Strike Fighter. Classed as 6++ generation fighter.
The single seater model entered into serial production as the IFX-35A Cygnus for Indonesian Air Force, Cygnus IDS (interdictor/strike) fighter-bomber for German Air Force, and Su-53S Frigate for the Russian Air Force.
First of its kind, using Hybrid-Pulse Detonation Turbofan engines with thrust-vectoring capabilities.
The Cygnus has an internal 25 mm to 30 mm gun and can carry air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface weapons. Additional fuel can be carried with up to five external fuel tanks and the aircraft can be configured as an airborne tanker by adding an external air refueling system.
The added electronics include AN/ALQ-221 wideband receivers on the center wing, and ALQ-99S high and low-band tactical jamming pods. The ALQ-221 combined with the ALQ-99S form a full spectrum electronic warfare suite that is able to provide detection and jamming against all known surface-to-air threats.
The aircraft skin used an experimental Titanium-Ceramic Composite with enhanced Radar Absorbal Materials, making the Cygnus some Stealth Capability.
The all-view on board camera with night vision installed on the nose (with "eye" cover if not used), wing tips, and tail cone provide pilots and on board artificial intellegent system an excelent view for situation awareness on dogfight scenario, and full-recon mission.
